Fashion Forecast: Spring/Summer 2019
I can barely believe that I’m actually typing the words spring and summer, it feels like it was just yesterday that we were taking our Christmas bookings at Halo… But here we are, and I’m ready to prepare you for all things hair related this fast approaching summer.
1) Blunt Bobs: One of the things we’re seeing making a comeback more and more this season and the coming seasons, is the whole 70’s revival scene. With celebrities all over Instagram such as Hailey Bieber and Karlie Kloss sporting the bob trend, it’s hard not to be tempted. The amazing thing about the bob style is how versatile it can be, a blunt bob on hair with a fine texture can really help to add some bulk and volume and give the appearance of more hair and a blunt bob that’s been tapered and styled on thick hair can often give thick hair a new lease of life. If you’re considering braving a bold bob, why not ask your stylist for styling pointers throughout your appointment, we’re here not only to give you fabulous hair but also fabulous advice to match. Watch what your stylist is using, and the different techniques involved and ask why, this way you can recreate the salon look at home too.
2) Adult Accessories: Alice Bands, bows, hair wraps, and clips are all the range now. Hair accessories are the perfect way to embellish a haircut, going back to the blunt bob from before, a simple placement of some clips in the front of your hair can really add something to your hair and really highlight a new haircut. We’ve seen endless clips and hair wraps on the run way recently, and we’re absolutely on board. We think that this trend would be perfect to pair with our in salon hair ups, just by adding a few clips or adding a bow to the style can really give it that extra WOW factor.
3) Lock down the gloss: Super smooth and super shiny, all that gloss. Hair that’s been freshly washed and primed with a shine serum and then perfectly blow-dried with a round brush is also a common favorite in the fashion magazines and seasonal spreads. Although beachy tousled hair will always be a favorite in the summer season, I have to say that the perfect blow-dry has been featured a lot more this year than beach hair and again, we’re in love. The kind of hair that literally shimmers in the sun light or under the moon light is beyond dreamy and highly sought after these coming seasons.
4) Champagne Blonde: Ash blonde and white toned hair has had its hay day, and as lovely as them colours still are, it’s important to acknowledge the changes going on in the fashionable world of blondes. Now, no one is telling you that yellow hair is in, we don’t think that’ll ever be a thing, but most certainly we’re seeing more and more warmer and champagne toned blondes hitting the fashion spreads. Even keeping the main base of the colour ash blonde, and just adding some warmer highlights is a great introduction and nothing too irreversible if you decide you can’t live without your bleach blonde locks.
Tip of the season: Looking on Pinterest and Instagram is the perfect way of gathering ideas and inspiration before your next hair appointment, and even folding magazines over on pages you like, simply showing things that have caught your eye helps to build a visual mood board for your stylist, and helps us understand your perception of different colours and tones. Magazines often showcase on trend haircuts and colours, as well as clothing, and act as a hub for all things trendy and in.
